When you scan such a QR code using a mobile phone camera or a webcam, the QR reader application processes the barcode and either takes you to a Web site, a YouTube video or some other web content. QR codes can contain the following types of information:

Website URL
YouTube Video
Google Maps Location (Latitude and Longitude)
Social Media (Facebook, Twitter etc)
iTunes Link
Plain Text
Telephone Number
SMS Message
Email Address
Email Message
Contact Details (a VCARD)
Event (a VCALENDAR)
Wifi Login (Android Only)
